On October 6, 2024, CBS’s ‘Face the Nation‘ interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris as she gave a long, rambling response about U.S. influence over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The following night, on October 7, 2024, CBS ‘60 Minutes‘ aired a heavily edited version of her answer.
The timing could not have been more critical. President Joe Biden, visibly incompetent and unfit, had stepped aside as President of the United States under pressure from his own party. Democrats, desperate to salvage their power, threw Kamala Harris into the race as their last hope — banking not on her ability, but on racial sentiment as Barack Obama racistly told Black voters that they “had to do the right thing” and vote for Harris, framing it as a Black racial obligation rather than a free political choice.
CBS knew Harris came across as bumbling, incoherent, and unprepared. So they stepped in to rewrite her words and then make up additional words she had never even said, manufacturing the illusion of competence to give Democrats a fighting chance in the upcoming election.
This wasn’t editing for time; it was editing for power. It was the deliberate rewriting of free speech, serving a political agenda instead of the American people. And when CBS got caught, they tried to spin themselves as victims — when in reality, they had undermined Free Speech and Democracy itself.
What CBS Did: From Rambling to Rewritten
The following is the CBS ‘Face the Nation‘ Original Harris Transcript from October 6, 2024 (~179 words). In this Face the Nation version we have put in bold what CBS took from the ‘Face the Nation‘ Interview and put into the ‘60 Minutes‘ Edited Version.
- “Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region. And the aid that we have given Israel allowed Israel to defend itself against 200 ballistic missiles that were just meant to attack the Israelis, and the people of Israel. And I think that is the most recent example of why what we do to assist in their defense around military aid is important. And when we think about the threat that Hamas, Hezbollah presents [from] Iran, I think that it is without any question our imperative to do what we can to allow Israel to defend itself against those kinds of attacks. “Now, the work that we do diplomatically with the leadership of Israel is an ongoing pursuit around making clear our principles, which include the need for humanitarian aid, the need for this war to end, the need for a deal to be done which would release the hostages, and create a cease fire. We put into bold the words CBS took from the Harris Interview, and then we underlined the words CBS completely manufactured and which were not in that interview in hopes of making her sound succinct.
